On a walk near my home, I experienced two cranes performing a mating ritual in the snow. The birds danced and then mated. There was an egg laid and nurtured by both parents, but unfortunately the egg did not hatch.

A green heron balances on a single toe in the middle of an impossibly large step from one burly branch to another. The perspective is low with bright blue sky in the background. I like to show birds in motion. That typically means flight, but in this case, just one giant step.
